Wishing you a fabulous Christmas and a Happy New Year! I will be taking a little break now to put my feet up for a while before our second baby arrives. Thank you all for your lovely comments and I look forward to blogging more in 2011 and sharing some exciting changes for Little Maison. The Designer Modern Girl

Decorating a nursery should be an exciting time but for many the process is quite daunting. Strolling the aisles of your local baby shop faced with linen and accessories plastered in beige bunnies, pink teddy bears & red trucks can be quite an overwhelming experience for any expectant parent.

Let’s face it you are going to be spending many of your waking moments in child's nursery so why not make it a place you will want to inhabit and true to your sense of style. It's easy to create a unique and stylish space on any budget, think outside the box and base your design on the things you love and the style of your home. Below are some ideas for a modern nursery, the bright splashes of colour used in the cushions and the chic modern furniture are perfectly suited to any stylish home. I adore the Ubabub cot and the Made By Girl print. What style would you decorate your nursery in?

Working On - Master Bedroom

I can hardly believe it is almost Christmas, I don't know how December crept up on me. There has been a hive of activity at Little Maison HQ with so many gorgeous rooms to be completed prior to Christmas. I'm currently working on a room for the lovely Carla from Habitat Baby. Carla had fallen in love with the most gorgeous Bone Inlay side tables and asked me to design her master bedroom around them. I will share photos of the completed room with you shortly but here is a sneak peak of what's install.

Square inverse bevelled edge mirror

Grape Bone Inlay Chest with coordinating side tables

Stunning mirrored lamp bases with custom shades

Crisp white linen

Divine Bianca Lorenne Silk/Velvet comforter and coordinating cushions
We have some gorgeous accessories to finish the room off including ginger jars, candles, beautiful photo frames and a display of Phalaenopsis orchids. Stay tuned for the reveal.

Thanks

Thank you to those of you who have emailed me and asked me not to stop blogging, I am very touched by your emails. I will keep the blog "alive" for now but please excuse me if the poor blog is neglected from time to time. For now I thought I would share some cushions I have fallen in love with and think I might use in the nursery if the new baby is a boy.

We are Moving - Competition

We are moving and would love you to come with us. Due to an overwhelming & immensely enjoyable workload, a busy toddler and a new baby due to arrive in 12 weeks there is just no time to tend to the poor neglected Little Maison blog. So we are on the move to Facebook and we would love you to join us over there. We are having a competition to celebrate our move. All you have to do to enter is join us on Facebook and leave us a comment on the wall to let us know you there. You will then go into the draw to win your choice of one of our gorgeous Isla & Oski prints. We thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you on Facebook.

A visit from Ruby & Belle

Things have been so busy at Little Maison so it was nice to take a break for a visit from Mekaela from Ruby & Belle. Mekaela is about to start building a gorgeous home so popped over for morning tea so we could talk all things house. We had a lovely morning talking tiles, taps and kitchens. I have to say Mekaela has beautiful taste and her new home is going to be drool worthy.

If you haven't "met" Ruby & Belle yet I suggest you visit them at http://www.rubyandbelle.com.au/. Mekaela is my “go to girl” for the finishing touches I need to complete the rooms I style, she is super talented and never disappoints. Spend some time having a look at the Ruby & Belle site, I think I will be doing quite a bit of my Christmas shopping there this year.

Happy weekend

I'm back & have a beautiful nursery to share

Hello there ! Unfortunately I had to take an unplanned break from Blogland due to being unwell. I missed catching up on my favourite blogs and sharing what has been happening in the world of Little Maison. Although I am not 100% I am pleased to say I am feeling slightly more human and look forward to making more regular posts and reading about what you have all been up to.I was delighted to see a photo of a nursery I styled in the latest LittleOne Baby and thought I would share some images of this beautiful space. Carla from Habitat Baby contacted me late last year and asked me to assist her style a nursery for her gorgeous twin girls Annalise and Ellyssa. I was in heaven when I arrived at Carla's home for the first time, the blank canvas that was before me was nothing short of my dream space to work with. I hope you enjoy seeing the images as much as I enjoyed creating the nursery.

Nursery Neutrals

Image via - whoops can't remember - sorry

Nursery Neutrals

Images via Sarah Richardson
Deciding on how to decorate your nursery when you don't know what you are having can be difficult. Beige teddy bears and yellow bunnies is often all that is available for the gender neutral nursery. Don't be afraid to step outside of the baby store and experiment with something a little more original. I love the look Sarah Richardson has created here by using more "grown up" fabrics. The colours and patterns are perfectly suited for a nursery. Please contact me if you would like some ideas on how to create the perfect gender neutral nursery for your little one.

Friday Find

Everyone needs a comfy chair to sit and relax in after a long day. It is such a shame that a comfy chair for a little one often means a ghastly cartoon clad foam piece of ugliness. Well not anymore! These stylish chairs designed especially for the mini stylista are the answer. I'm off to purchase one for my own stylish miss now.
Have a great weekend.

I am having so much fun sourcing beautiful things to make creating your little ones room something special. Let me know what you would like to see in terms of children’s bedding and decor, I would love to hear your thoughts.

Nursery Neutrals

I often hear parents saying how hard it is to find neutral nursery linen. I have found the answer! This gorgeous setting is perfect those who don't know what gender they are having or for the little boy & girl who share a room. The sheet set design features vintage children's silhouettes playing in a forest of trees. Combine this sheet set with the matching wall art and this super soft 100% melange cotton blanket to create a perfectly coordinated nursery. I can imagine the tree painted on a wall with red fruit grates placed beneath it for storing toys & treasures. Oh and wouldn't this little birdie be right at home in this room- Simply gorgeous.

All of these items are available from Little Maison, please contact me for details.

Friday Find

Happy Friday! I thought I would share what would have to be one of my favourite pieces of children’s furniture at the moment. I recently used two of these chairs (or future antiques as I like to call them) in a nursery I styled for the most divine twins. These vintage rattan chairs take pride of place in front of their beautiful fireplace. I can't wait to share some images of their nursery, it is truly beautiful so stay tuned. Have a wonderful weekend.
